Diagnostic or medical imaging refers to the processes used to create images of the body. The purpose of these procedures is to aid the veterinarian in making a proper diagnosis of the disease causing illness.

Digital Radiography (X-rays)

The Drake Center is proud to use state-of-the-art digital radiography. This system is extremely safe and allows us to obtain high-quality diagnostic images much faster than traditional methods. Because the images are digital, we are able to email them for specialty evaluation as well as share the images with our clients.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a non-invasive way to evaluate the internal organs of your pet. These images provide a three-dimensional view of the liver, kidneys, spleen, bladder and intestines. A skilled ultrasonographer can also note changes in smaller structures such as the lymph nodes, pancreas and adrenal glands. Ultrasound enables us to perform tissue aspirates and biopsies from abnormal areas within the body without surgery. In many cases, this process is invaluable in obtaining a definitive diagnosis for your pet. Ultrasounds of the heart can also be performed at our hospital. These ultrasounds, called echocardiograms, are vital in the definitive diagnosis of various types of heart disease that dogs and cats can develop.

Certified Veterinary Radiologist

We utilize a mobile board certified veterinary radiologist for all our diagnostic imaging needs. This service allows patients to remain at our facility for the evaluation and helps to ease the cost of the procedure.

We are happy to provide these advanced medical services for the health and well-being of our patients. If you would like to learn more about our Diagnostic Imaging services, please contact us here.
