As a result of the temporary product suspension by Novartis Animal Health, The Drake Center has experienced shortages of several medications, including Sentinel, Interceptor, Program, Deramaxx and Clomicalm, over the last several months. While all Novartis Animal Health brands remain safe and effective to use, we regret to inform our clients that our hospital cannot carry Sentinel again until the end of the year.

In the interim, The Drake Center will offer a similar product to Sentinel called Trifexis. Dogs requiring a refill during this time will be prescribed three doses of Trifexis to provide flea control until a new shipment of Sentinel arrives at our hospital.

Trifexis is made up of Interceptor, which controls intestinal parasites and heartworms, and Comfortis, a flea adulticide. Trifexis does not control flea eggs as Sentinel does, therefore we do recommend Sentinel be resumed once it is available. It is very important to note that Comfortis should be discontinued before starting Trifexis.
