At The Drake Center, it’s no surprise our families are a bit…furry. From dogs and cats to horses, chickens and an emu, we’d like you to meet the loves of our lives—our pets.

  • Geronimo (a.k.a. Little Man), DSH

If you had to choose, would you say you are a cat person or a dog person? Why?

I was a dog person until I owned these cats. These two cats are more like dogs.

How did you get your pets? Why did you choose those particular breeds?

My cats were rescues from The Drake Center. Jean Gray was found in Lorraine's backyard. Dr. Drake found Little Man in the median on El Camino Real.

What is special about your pets?

Both of my cats greet me at the front door when I get home every day.

Little Man is my shadow and follows me wherever I go.

Jean Gray's favorite meal is fish (salmon) and chips (Pringles). She will literally come running from any room in the house if you open a can of Pringles. She loves tortilla chips, too.

What is the cutest thing about your pets, physically?

Jean Gray is soft and squishy. Little Man has a tiny little nose and whiskers.

What do you let your pets get away with that you probably shouldn't?

I taught them to like human food, so they beg for food while I am eating.

What is your favorite memory or story about your pets?

When Little Man was about four months old, he crawled into the door in the refrigerator without me knowing. About five minutes later, I heard him meowing but couldn't find him. I eventually followed the crying into the kitchen. I opened the refrigerator and he came falling out. He was fine...just a little cold! He still likes to investigate the refrigerator every once in a while, just to see what's inside.

What do your pets bring to the dynamic of your family?

They bring me entertainment, love and joy.
