At The Drake Center, it’s no surprise our families are a bit…furry. From dogs and cats to horses, chickens and an emu, we’d like you to meet the loves of our lives—our pets.

Proud pet parent: Otomi, kennel assistant

  • Roxy, Yorkshire terrier

If you had to choose, would you say you are a cat person or a dog person? Why?

I am a dog person. I love to take walks and play with my dog and have her ride with me in the car.

How did you get your pets? Why did you choose those particular breeds?

Roxy was a gift for my 20th birthday. I was obsessed with Yorkies and how cute and tiny they are.

What is special about your pets?

She’s my baby! She also loves to play fetch even though she’s so small.

What is the cutest thing about your pets, physically?

I love her face. She still has a cute little puppy face.

What do you let your pets get away with that you probably shouldn't?

She likes to steal the neighbor kids’ toys. She hides them in her bed and I let her keep them. I would give them back, but she looks so happy I just can’t.

What is your favorite memory or story about your pets?

I don’t have a specific memory, but she always does something to put a smile on my face.

What do your pets bring to the dynamic of your family?

Whenever my family travels, we always take her. She loves to ride in the car with us and stick her face out the window.
