At The Drake Center, it’s no surprise our families are a bit…furry. From dogs and cats to horses, chickens and an emu, we’d like you to meet the loves of our lives—our pets.

If you had to choose, would you say you are a cat person or a dog person? Why?

I would have to say I am a dog person. I think one of the best things about having a pet is being able to bring them with you on walks and runs and the beach. My best days are my days spent at the beach with Brick!

How did you get your pet? Why did you choose that particular breed?

My sister and I both lost our Labs within two weeks of each other. Our lives couldn't go on without dogs in them, so we knew we wanted to get littermates together.

Our uncle has a Goldendoodle and she is so smart and friendly and such a great family dog, we knew either a Labradoodle or a Goldendoodle would be perfect for us! Soon, we stumbled upon puppy Labradoodles that needed homes. We went to "just look" one night and ended up with both of them in the car with us on our way home! We were both in love with them from day one.

Brick and his sister, Breeze, are best friends and I don’t know what they would do without each other!

What is special about your pet?

Brick is the most loving, sweetest and loyal man. I get huge hugs every time I walk in the door because when he stands up we are the same height!

What is the cutest thing about your pet, physically?

His beard for sure. I am pretty much obsessed with it!

What do you let your pets get away with that you probably shouldn't?

EVERYTHING! He pretty much gets away with murder when he is with me!  He is too cute to get mad at.

What is your favorite memory or story about your pets?

One night, he was standing by the door to go potty. When I opened the door to let him out, he decided it was way too cold to go out so he just put his front two paws out and kept his back legs in. He started to pee right there and he made sure the pee made it right outside the door.  He looked at me the whole time like "You can't get mad at me, my pee is making it outside!" I wish I had it on film!

What do your pets bring to the dynamic of your family?

He brings so much happiness and love to our family. He is always making us laugh. He is the perfect walking buddy and he is always there to give you a beard kiss!
