For your convenience, a search was performed using the query about us in news Recently there has been a rise in number of cases of Canine Influenza throughout Southern California Canine Influenza also known as “dog flu” is a contagious respiratory disease in dogs Like flu in humans canine form is spread via respiratory droplets Infected dogs can pass this illness to others through barking coughing breathing panting It can also be passed by contaminated objects kennel surfaces food water bowls collars leashes by people moving between infected uninfected dogs Dogs in shelters boarding grooming facilities are most at risk However dogs that visit dog parks dog beaches other public places where there is proximity to other dogs are also highly at risk To preserve safety of all canine patients that enter Drake Center starting December 15th we will be requiring that all dogs boarding at Drake Center will have a current Canine Influenza Vaccine With upcoming holiday season it is imperative that we take this initiative in requiring all dogs to be vaccinated to protect them from this highly contagious illness while boarding bathing at our facility As with other vaccines there is a series of two vaccines 3 4 weeks apart for first year vaccine is annual after initial series We will be reaching out to clients directly who have already scheduled boarding bathing appointments within coming weeks to arrange for their dogs to receive Canine Influenza vaccine For your convenience we will also be offering a Canine Influenza Vaccine Package where you will be able to purchase your pet’s series of vaccines in one simple transaction We would like to thank you for your cooperation if you have any questions need to schedule your pet’s next appointment please feel free to contact us.
